Scope

        Residential and commercial applied and structural flooring.

Profiles

        Standard profiles: Structural and overlay flooring J600-606 Profile Range.

Tests: Product moisture content

        Test method for timber products: To AS/NZS 1080.1.
        Test method for concrete substrate: To AS/NZS 2455 Appendix B.

        Tolerances: Maximum deviation of the finished floor surface: Maximum 3mm under a 3M straight edge laid in 
        any direction.

Moisture content:

        General: Do not commence installation of flooring unless:

  • Concrete substrate: The moisture content of the concrete has been tested to AS/NZS 2455.1 Appendix B and values obtained as follows:
    • <5.5% when tested by the electrical resistance test
    • <70% when tested by the hygrometer test
  • Plywood underlays or timber flooring products: The moisture content has been tested to AS/NZS 1080.1 and values obtained as follows:
    • Air-conditioned buildings: 8 to 10%
    • Intermittently heated buildings: 10 to 12.5%
    • Unheated buildings: 12 to 15%

Existing strip floor substrate

        Preparation: Replace unsound boards and rough sand to achieve the required flatness.

Battens for strip flooring on concrete slabs

        General: Fix seasoned battens to the concrete slab so that their top surfaces are aligned.

        Batten spacing: 450 mm.

        Framing fixed on resilient pads: Pad spacing: 400 mm centres.

        Vapour barrier under battens: VBS Selleys VBS system epoxy coating system, 200 mm high-impact 
        resistant polyethylene. Lap 300 mm, seal the laps with pressure-sensitive tape and return up the 
        vertical surfaces and trim at the level of the flooring.

Strip flooring on steel joists

        General: Screw fix seasoned battens to the steel joists so that their top surfaces are aligned.

        Batten spacing: 450 mm.

Length spread:

        900mm to 4800mm random, selected lengths available on request.
