JSC VertiClad, offers both wrap and rigid air barrier options along with the new JSC VertiClad batten profiles to complete an exclusive new range.

JSC Timber have been the first to develop a fully tested horizontal and vertical cavity system for Western Red Cedar in both Vertical Shiplap and Rusticated Cedar Weatherboards formats.

JSC VertiClad is tested to NZBC E2/AS1 VM1 in respect to the requirements of clauses B1, B2 and E2 and gives a full Producer Statement-Design from an ACE accredited façade engineer.

Vertical Shiplap Weatherboards offer variety and versatility that complements any architectural style, it adapts equally as well to bold expressive modernism or the well defined criteria of period styling. Available in a wide range of standard and architectural profiles that offer amazing architectural potential. Vertical Shiplap is a look that is currently re-defining the NZ coastal landscape with random patterns that incorporate 8”, 6” and 4” profiles to the retro 4” Mini Shiplap.

Scope

        Residential and light Commercial cladding as per NZS 3604/E2AS1 direct and cavity fixing.

Profiles

        as per NZS 3617 or Branz Bulletin 411 
        Standard profiles: J50, J51, J52, J53, J54, J55, J56, J57, J58, J59, J60.

Architectural Profiles

        APJ301, APJ302, APJ303, APJ304, APJ305, APJ306, APJ307, APJ308, APJ309, APJ310, 
        APJ311, APJ312, APJ313.

Grades

        as per NZS 3631: 1988 
        PC1 Premium Clears One 
        PC2 Premium Clears Two

Durability

        as per NZS 3602 Class 2 durability for use above ground. In long lengths to profile detailed with 
        species and grading to the requirements of NZS 3602 but with all knots excluded.  To NZS 3602, 
        table 2, Requirements for wood-based building components to achieve a 15-year durability 
        performance.

Finish

        BSF (Band Sawn Face) or DF (Dressed Face).

Length Spread

        2400mm to 5900mm random, selected lengths available on request. No less than 2400mm.

Finishes: CedarShield - Factory Applied Weatherboard Coating System

        JSC specifically developed the CedarShield system to responsibly manage and increase the 
        performance of Western Red Cedar against the harsh New Zealand environment.

        The CedarShield System offers factory applied coating within a controlled environment delivering a full 
        envelope seal to Weatherboards, Fascia, Panelling and Dressed profiles prior to delivery.

        CedarShield ensures a consistent application for improved appearance and increased finish life and 
        durability without unsightly lap marks or acclimatization lines.

        Coating options include both oil and water based coating systems with many new and innovative

Fixing Vertical Shiplap Weatherboards

        Adjust horizontal set-out to ensure there is a 2 mm expansion gap between successive boards.  
        Using full length boards only, clench nail tongue to every fixing point (nogs – dwangs at 400 - 480 
        mm centres).  Nail other side of board just clear of lap 30mm – 35mm from edge.  Nails to be driven 
        in with an upward slope.  Line nails horizontally across the boards.
